Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a highly skilled, adaptable, and compassionate Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs. This critical role involves providing advanced nursing care to patients presenting with emergent, urgent, or non-urgent conditions in the Emergency Department. The NP will independently assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a diverse patient population across all age ranges and acuity levels, working closely with ED physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient patient flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive health assessments, including taking detailed histories and conducting physical examinations, for patients presenting to the ED.
- Formulate differential diagnoses and definitive diagnoses for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, including laboratory, radiology, and other advanced studies.
- Develop and implement evidence-based management plans, including prescribing medications, administering treatments, and performing procedures.
- Manage emergent and urgent medical conditions, initiating life-saving interventions within scope of practice.
- Perform common ED procedures including, but not limited to:
- Suturing and wound care
- Incision and drainage of abscesses
- Splinting and fracture management (non-displaced)
- Foreign body removal
- Basic airway management
- Venipuncture and IV insertion
- Point-of-care testing
- Provide timely and effective patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, follow-up care, and preventive measures.
- Collaborate and consult effectively with ED attendings, specialists, residents, registered nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care.
- Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of all patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Facilitate appropriate patient dispositions (admission, transfer, discharge) and follow-up care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuous professional development.
Job Requirements- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, valid, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arkansas.
- Current, valid, and unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Arkansas.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an Emergency Department setting OR a minimum of 3-5 years of RN experience in an Emergency Department/Critical Care setting combined with 1-2 years as an NP in an acute care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
