The position will be part of the Ambulatory Imaging Division. Facilities are located at the Arringdon Duke Health facility located on Arringdon Park Drive in Morrisville, NC.
Hours: coverage needed will be: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm
General Description
Perform a variety of tasks eminent in operating radiographic equipment to perform procedures. The position will be part of the Ambulatory Imaging Division and located at the Arringdon Duke Health facility. The new IR clinic will operate 40 hours a week, except when closed for Holidays, to accommodate outpatient IR procedures. There will be no call associated with this position.
This position must support the Ambulatory Radiology Division and perform other duties as assigned and supported by scope of practice. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
Imaging procedural experience required.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating X-Ray/C-Arm equipment to make radiographs of designated anatomical areas of interest. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
Explain procedures to patients.
Position patients for each anatomical view using positioning assistance devices and protective equipment as necessary.
Ensure customer satisfaction and appropriateness of care for all assigned patients. Thoroughly explains the procedures to patients and allows time for questions and addresses concerns in a professional and kind manner.
Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in our care.
Set up sterile trays and other equipment practicing sterile technique.
Assist radiologist during angiographic and interventional procedures. Assist radiologist during procedure to include handling of instruments, operating and monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings; alerting physician to changes in patient condition.
Scrub to assist with passage of catheters/guidewires.
Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
Charge radiographic procedures in; able to modify orders per protocol. Monitor charging of procedures and supplies for division to ensure correctness.
Monitor assigned inventory expiration dates. Monitor inventory levels and par-levels.
Maintain adequate supplies; allowing for lead time when placing orders.
Maintain a par inventory of catheters, balloons, stents, guidewires, and miscellaneous kits under discretion of manager.
Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and collimation.
Understands and uses the Image Archival System
Provide orientation to new technologists.
Perform as a self-starter and takes the initiative to proactively address situations before they arise or escalate.
Demonstrate the ability to multi-task as needed and communicate in a positive and efficient matter.
Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the patient's needs.
Maintain ALARA principles for patients, staff, and self
Ensures regulatory guidelines are adhered to and maintain appropriate records.
Assist with the daily operations of the diagnostic department across the Ambulatory Platform.
Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
Establish and maintain productive ethical working relationships with coworkers, referring providers and commercial agencies.
Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
Experience
Level I must obtain ARRT certification within 18 months of employment.
Level II Minimum of two years' experience as an Interventional technologist.
Level III A minimum of four years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
ARRT certification in radiography
ARRT certification in vascular interventional technology must be obtained within 18 months of hire
BLS certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
