Qualified candidates will teach college-level courses to technical degree-seeking students in our Health and Public Safety (HPS) Division. Responsibilities will include instructing students and providing relevant class/lab experiences needed to assist them in the successful completion of their program. Instruction will primarily take place in a classroom, but may include online learning as needed. The individual selected for this position must be willing to provide DMS Program leadership and serve as Chair of the DMS Program. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accreditation, revising curricula to meet accreditation standards, assisting with student advising, collaboration among program faculty, and working with the community to assure student success. Faculty are expected to work collaboratively with other members of the Health and Safety Division and support the activities of the DMS Programs, Health and Public Safety Division and the College. Essential Duties: Supervise the development of new courses/curricula and the maintenance of existing courses/curricula. Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials Ensure the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained by overseeing, monitoring, and communicating with the Clinical Coordinator regarding student clinical rotations, the number of cases, and the completion of required competencies by students Counsel and advise current and prospective DMS students Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles Actively participate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Divisional and College meetings and committees, including organizing and leading advisory committee Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested time Teach courses at a variety of times (day or evening) and locations in response to institutional needs Schedule the maintenance and upgrades of laboratory equipment and procure supplies Maintain and develop community relationships as required for the growth and success of the DMS Program Instruct DMS courses and scan labs in General Imaging and additional sonography curriculum courses as needed Teach assigned introductory and upper-level courses following established course descriptions, course objectives, and accreditation guidelines Remain current in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography field and ensure that course offerings and content are consistent with College and accreditation requirements Details: Reports To: Associate Dean, Health and Public Safety Division Position Level: Instructor Starting range for Compensation: $59,363 (Bachelor) $64,977 (Master), $70,590 (Doctorate) Job Category: Faculty Contractual Affiliation: AAUP1 Exempt Classification: Exempt Status: Full-time Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the DMS field Abdominal and Obstetrics & Gynecology Sonography certification Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare related field Cardiac and/or Vascular Sonography certification (in addition to the Abdominal and Obstetrics & Gynecology Sonography certification) On-line distance education instruction experience, preferably using Blackboard Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques.
