Department Overview

The ITS department serves the users of the multiple Cerner/KIDS/HRIS applications that have been installed at all the Children's service sites. The members of the PowerChart, Pharmacy, registration, orders, care coordination, radiology, D&RS, billing and scheduling teams work to provide 24-hour coverage for these patient-related applications. Other non-patient care systems include: PeopleSoft, Kronos, and Groupwise. They are involved in daily support and investigation into the future needs of our staff and patients. They investigate and test software, such as security access, and hardware, such as new wireless devices.

Position Summary

This position will plan, design, implement, test, and provide on-going optimization for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and other related clinical applications.

Perform workflow assessments, capture business needs, and analyze internal systems to determine functional requirements.

Deliver implementation support, inclusive of troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

Execute application build, upgrade activities, and implement system enhancements as needed.

Work within cross-functional team and with end-users to achieve required outcomes.

Facilitate the development of proposed solutions to business-sponsored initiatives.

Key resource for several EMR components and back-up resource for others.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Cerner Millennium or other EMR.

* Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience in a related area may substitute degree, and at least 2 years of experience in the field.

* Practical experience with healthcare and/or financial software applications and ability to manipulate data with standard tools.

* Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and/or financial software applications * Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and various other hospital staff.

* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing with all levels of associates and management.

* Knowledge of analytical processes and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to evaluate business user needs against current system capabilities.

* Ability to accurately and effectively translate business requirements to high-level system specifications.

* Familiarity in the use of Microsoft Window products (Word, Excel, Access and Project) or equivalent.

* Aptitude for learning new software tools and products.

* Familiarity with the software development cycle.

* Understanding of relational databases and client-server concepts.
