The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years. The candidate will be working under the supervision of Dr. Chuan Huang on PET/MRI projects. Dr. Huang is the Director of PET/MRI Research at Emory School of Medicine, and was the Chair of ISMRM PET/MR study group. Dr. Huang has a broad research interest within the realm of PET/MRI, and is seeking a highly motivated researcher with a desire to begin an independent career in imaging sciences.For this position, depending on the candidate's specific expertise and experience, they could be working on developmental projects like deep learning based PET image reconstruction/denoising, sequence development, or applicational projects including PET and/or MRI image analysis, kinetic modeling, or clinical research projects including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease. Strong written and oral English scientific communication skills are required. Preferred Qualifications - PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field. However, strong candidate with other scientific background will also be considered.Strong programming skills are preferred (for example, Matlab, Python, TensorFlow, C/C++).Solid knowledge of PET or MRI physics is preferred.Strong publication record (journal publication, conference abstract, etc) is preferred.Hands-on experience with PET, MRI or PET/MRI scanner is desired.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.
