Details Posted: 08-Mar-23 Location: Chicago, Illinois Salary: Open Internal Number: 308695 Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Director of the Cell Processing Lab.The Division of Hematology, Oncology and Cell Therapy in the Department of Medicine and Section of Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant at Rush University Medical Center / Rush University Cancer Center is seeking a physician, or a scientist focused on cellular therapy, immunotherapy in the treatment of cancers and/or other medical diseases. The successful candidate will have expertise to develop and run a successful cellular therapy laboratory. The director is expected to lead and work with laboratory technicians and provide necessary education to achieve the goals. The vision will include creating a contemporary cellular laboratory that will have a goal to obtain good manufacturing practice certificate, that will manipulate, manufacture, prepare hematologic and hematopoietic stem cells, clinical protocols, treatments, and transplantations. The cellular laboratory will have an ultimate goal of translational development of its own new, complex cellular engineering products as a GMP facility. This is an exciting time for cellular therapy at Rush University given that cellular therapy is applicable for hematologic diseases, as well as oncologic and many other non-oncologic diseases. As such, the CPL is being considered to undergo significant renovations. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to this important development in planning stages.The candidate is expected to have academic activities, including research and scholarly activity that advances the field of medicine, teaching, excellence in clinical care, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. It is also expected that interacting with and contributing to other clinical providers, researchers from other disciplines to open, develop cell therapy programs, studies. A demonstrated history of grant funding and an established reputation in the field would be preferable. In addition, they are Board Certified/Board Eligible (if physician) and incoming at the assistant, associate or professor level. The predominant criteria for all appointments are a major commitment to research, teaching, and patient satisfaction, excellence in clinical care, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service.Our new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center facility in Chicago will serve as a hub for services throughout our health system. Our core programs are supported by multi-disciplinary teams from hematology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, research and bioinformatics, clinical operations, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators.
