ChristianaCare's Union Hospital Imaging Department is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Ultrasound Tech II to work primarily on a day schedule!

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The primary responsibility involves all phases of noninvasive peripheral vascular testing and perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures at the request of physicians to aid in the diagnoses of disease or related abnormalities. The work is performed on hospital patients and outpatients in accordance with established procedures and protocols of the department under the direct supervision of the interpreting physician. The technologist is responsible for all non-invasive vascular procedures in the vascular laboratory. The technologist must show significant, independent judgment in performing all procedure and be able to deal with difficult or unusual situations. Must be able to evaluate studies for technical quality and correlate with other modalities when appropriate. Responsible for direct supervision of the technical and clerical staff at locations where there is no immediate supervisor/manager. Responsible for customer relations and solution of urgent problems at off-site and on-campus locations where there is no immediate supervisor/manager.

Control workflow related to demand and handle patient care priorities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Content level expert for all ultrasound equipment and procedures
• Content level expert of radiology supported computer systems
• Demonstrates expert communication skills in discussing cases with radiologists.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of all Ultrasound units, portable units, RIS (radiology information systems) and PACS systems
• Demonstrates effective communication skills in discussing cases with radiologists.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in assisting physicians during invasive procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in assisting physicians in the Surgicenter, IR Lab and Main OR
• Demonstrates ability to provide technologist's tentative readings as needed.
• Obtain clinical history regarding reason for examination and documentation on Ultrasound request and fill out appropriate measurement sheet pertaining to exam.
• Demonstrates problem solving skills between Ultrasound section, Nursing, and ancillary departments.
• Participates in filling out and /or verifying information on the Patient Identification Procedure Side / Site form in Power Chart
• Ability to use the PACS system and accurately enter patient information and keeps all information confidential.
• Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
• Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed
• Perform all diagnostic vascular procedures and operate all vascular equipment such as ultrasound imagers, treadmill, segmental limb pressure and pulse volume recordings, responsible to differentiate normal from abnormal pathology.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

3 years' experience as a staff technologist

Two years JRC accredited ultrasound technology program is required

Certification in CPR

ARDMS Registered

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

ARMDS Registered
