Mid Shift

Role Summary:

Independently works off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice within the defined Vanderbilt paramedic scope of practice. Responsible for triage care in the field as well as the Emergency Department. Responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care in paramedic team, transport and handover.


Key Responsibilites:

• Actively participates with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care
• Transports patients via various modes of transportation while providing quality ALS and Critical Care management to all ages.
• Responds to emergency requests within Vanderbilt Wilson County sponsored or other contracted events.
• Utilizes the problem-solving model to independent resolve patient problems and follows through to implement solutions.
• Effectively communicates patient handover to the health care team.

Department Summary:

The Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital Emergency Department is a busy and growing 15 bed ED with a 4 bed Fast Track. The ED utilizes the Epic EMR for documentation of visits. Shifts are 12 hours with every other weekend required as well as holiday rotation.

Position Shift:

• 1pm-1am
• Weekend rotation required
• Holiday rotation required

Graduate of an approved discipline specific program (or equivalent experience)

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):

• Licensed Paramedic Required
• Tennessee Drivers License - F Endorsement Required

Additional Qualification Information:

• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care. Additional job requirements include: 1. Medical crew members must be able to twist, bend and provide patient care in confined spaces. 2. Must be able to tolerate stressors of transport, including, but not limited to, excessive motion, vibration, and extreme temperatures. 3. Must maintain weight so as to fit into seat belts / shoulder harnesses as provided by the aircraft or ambulance manufacturer without modification to those safety devices.
