The Health Technician position is in the outlying Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC's) and is aligned under Nursing Service. The positions will be located at the Golden, and Aurora clinics. This position will provide clinical support for patients who require patient care services and provide Nursing support to contribute to overall clinic functionality. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-05 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of collection requirements such as tube order, proper fill amounts, and collection temperature and storage requirements; Knowledge of guidelines related to Phlebotomy Procedures; Skill in venipuncture is necessary to obtain required quantities of specimens needed for a large battery of tests requested with the subsequent labeling, preservation, special handling of select specimens, storage, as well as correct patient identification prior to drawing; required knowledge of computer procedures sufficient to perform work in numerous lab and radiology menu selections. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-04 level. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-04 level. Perform point of care testing when needed. 4. Assist with clinic flow as needed; answers phone, directs patients to appropriate areas, relays appropriate information to Nursing and Physician staff, and prepares patient examination areas. 5. Enters information into CPRS as needed. 6. Properly stocks and maintains OPL/Clinic rooms with supplies and organized instruments and equipment as instructed. 7. Sets up for a multitude of procedures and treatments performed by RN, MD (i.e., joint injections, suturing). 8. Performs any other assignments designated by the registered nurse that is essential to patient care and is appropriate to his/her level of training.
