Serves as Medical Technician within the Clinical Laboratory, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. The position is that of a Medical Technician assigned to provide phlebotomy support for both in and outpatients at VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System. The incumbent will perform phlebotomy, accession specimens, and perform other procedures necessary to ensure appropriate specimen receipt, handling, and processing to ensure accurate, reliable laboratory results. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/31/2022. Answers incoming calls for the laboratory service. Quickly finds and relays accurate information or refers the caller to technical personnel. Performs disposition of add-on orders. Recollection of patient specimens when determined by the medical technologists to be inadequate or insufficient to meet the test requirements. Collection of additional samples as required for the purpose of performing additional required testing. Uses and performs preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers.
