Position Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing technical duties utilizing Ultrasound imaging equipment and supplies to obtain satisfactory imaging for exams and procedures performed on patients of all ages.  The Ultrasound Technologic is also responsible for performing clerical duties specific to all areas of the Imaging Services Department. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.  It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values.  The employee shall support Saddleback Memorial Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to: Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and MemorialCare initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

• Uses computer system effectively and accurately.
• Assists in clerical function during slow technical demand periods with tasks required.
• Possesses the required optimal technical knowledge of department equipment in order to assure appropriate quality patient care.
• Is knowledgeable in the performance of all department procedures.
• Assures that the imaging services technologists can perform exams relative to a patient’s age specific requirements.
• Assures that patient and family education is accomplished.
• Properly and efficiently manages patient flow and exams in the department.
• Accurately and efficiently processes and performs departmental orders.
• Addresses the age specific needs of all populations served.
