To be creditable, experience must have demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (also referred to as clinical competencies) associated with current radiologic technology practice. This may have been evidenced by the equivalent of one year of active practice, which is paid or non-paid employment as a DRT as defined by ARRT. (2) Quality of Experience. Experience is only creditable if it was earned after completion of the basic certification requirements identified in paragraph 2b above. Experience as a graduate DRT is creditable provided the candidate functioned as a DRT and subsequently passed the certification examination.(3) Part-Time Experience. Part-time experience as a DRT is creditable according to its relationship to the full-time workweek. Directly interacts with both the students and the instructors from FTCC. Trains other personnel in radiographic principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques, and equipment. Explains concepts and principles of the methodology and its use and limitations as a diagnostic tool. Develops diagnostic imaging training plans for incorporation in other programs of instruction. Assures that sterile supplies, linen, routine supplies, contrast materials, catheters and other required equipment is maintained, inventoried regularly and prepared for procedure. Prepares oral, intravenous, and rectal contrast materials and assists radiologists in their administration (ex. fluoroscopic studies, IVP's). As required by procedure or patient's condition, obtains pertinent information from patient or medical records, monitors the patient during examination and notifies radiologist of any significant changes. Performs bedside examinations on the medical wards, ICU unit, recovery room, and OR suite with portable x-ray machines. Assists the medical center surgeons by operating the portable C-Arm unit during difficult and complex OR cases. Assists the Radiologist in performing complex procedures such as biopsies, needle punctures, fistulograms, etc. Maintains daily care, cleanliness, and disinfection of equipment by use of appropriate agents. Follows established isolation procedure policies.
