Registered Nurse, Operating Room (Call Team)

Role Summary:

Responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating care for various patients within the facility. Reports directly to the Clinical Director of the unit. This position works in conjunction with other members of nursing service, ancillary services, physicians, patients, and families. It collaborates with various members of the healthcare team to ensure quality of care across the continuum. Requires the ability to be self-directed and quality focused. Interpersonal communication skills are a necessary function of this position. *$15k sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
• Serve as a patient advocate
• Set up rooms prior to surgery
• Patient Prep and Positioning
• EPIC Documentation
• Charge for supplies used per procedure

Department/Unit Summary:

Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital has 4 operating rooms in the main OR and 4 operating rooms at our Ambulatory Center. Staff have opportunities at both locations. We were the first facility in the state of Tennessee to have the innovative MAKO surgical solution for orthopedics.

The following types of procedures are conducted at our facilities:

• Orthopedic
• General
• GYN
• Urology
• Plastics
• Vascular
• Endo
• Bariatric
• Ophthalmology (cataracts)

Position Shift:

• The Call Team staff are on call from 3p-7a. Staff in these roles are currently paid for 40 hours per week, regardless if they are called in to work. Staff work one holiday per year.
