Position Summary:

Must be available nights, days, weekends, holidays and on-call.

Up to $10,000 sign on bonus based on experience

Under the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor, provide patient services in a Level I Trauma Center. Perform Computed Tomo-Graphical procedures by operating a variety of Siemens platform scanners. The variety and complexity include but are not limited to Musculoskeletal, Neuro, and Body Imaging by following assigned protocols. The delivery of quality service and positive interaction with customers is critical to the completion of all tasks. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.Accountability:

X-RAY - Follow prescribed techniques to administer specific radiation for imaging purposes; adjust equipment; calculate exposure factors; position and immobilizes patients, as necessary; use appropriate lead shielding

EQUIPMENT - Operate imaging equipment, computer and other assistive devices according to department standards

PAPERWORK - Complete and verify all appropriate paperwork involved in but not limited to exams, patient education, lab results and patient check lists

SAFETY - Provide protection to patients, family members, staff and self in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards and ALARA

OBSERVATION - Observe patient and equipment during procedures; document patient reactions or problems on requisition and report immediately to supervisor

PATIENT CARE - Assume care for physical needs of the patient during examinations and procedures

CONTRAST MEDIA - Prepare and administer contrast media/agents

IMAGING - Assist physician with imaging process; follow Radiology Department protocols

QUALITY CONTROL - Assume responsibility for portions of the quality control programs and provide instruction as required

CLINICAL EDUCATION - Instruct specific units of didactic and/or clinical education as required to students, clinical staff and residents

SUPPLIES - Clean assigned area; maintain stock supply levels through inventory control and requisitioning

PATIENT ASSISTANCE - Assist in reception area, scheduling office and/or film library; aid patients and transport them, as necessary

FLOAT - May be required to float to another work assignment/area

DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes

PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk

PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner

PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Education Requirements:

Comm on Allied Health and Accred (AMA), or accred ED pgm

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Radiography)

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist CT Certification (ARRT-CT) within 1 year of date of position

NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program Licensure(formerly RTC)

CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position

Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Certification or obtain within 6 months of date of position

Experience Requirements - Preferred:

1 year directly related experience

Cross sectional anatomy course completed

Bilingual English/Spanish

Physical Demands Requirements:

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Testing Requirements:

Obtain UNMH IV verification within 3 months of date of position

Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required

Working Conditions Requirements:

Sig Hazard: Chemicals, bio hazardous materials requiring extensive safety precautions and may require protective equipment

May be required or is required to perform on-call duties
