Details Posted: April 8, 2021 Location: Atlanta, Georgia Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Allied Health The Medical Technologist Microbiology) serves as a generalist with responsibility for performing procedures in Microbiology section in support of Covid 19 testing but may be required at times to fill in in other areas of the laboratory to include chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and immuno-hematology. Performs qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using various analyzers and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids using established procedures. Performs established quality assurance procedures (quality control testing, instrument function checks and calibrations) maintains appropriate documentation and reports irregularities. Assesses accuracy and validity of obtained test results by applying knowledge of relevant scientific principles, recognizes changes that are critical to patient care, and identifies probable causes for irregular and atypical findings. Maintains records of tests and examinations and final results for all record functions and inquiries related to patient care. Monitors and evaluates quality control data reporting outliers to the supervisor or Lead Medical Technologist. Performs testing on a variety of biological specimens and/or environmental samples using manual or automated techniques. Monitors quality control systems and measures. Collaborates in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Provides education for laboratory and other healthcare professionals.
