You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Blood Bank/Urinalysis/Coagulation Lead Technologist assists the Supervisor/Laboratory Manager by working in collaboration with team members for effective and efficient operation of the Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation areas of the laboratory. Facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members of employees to ensure that tasks are completed, and team priorities, goals, and achievements are coordinated with management. Sets the pace and demonstrates proper technique and processes. Reviews the work of other Medical Technologists and students to check for proper documentation, accuracy and completeness as needed. Is the liaison between the team members, other area leads and the Supervisor/Laboratory Manager reporting adverse or potential issues within each section. Provides expertise to providers or other departments in the medical center for assisting with test recommendations or interpretation. Monitors inventory to ensure sufficient reagents and supplies are available and ready for use by anticipating requirements for regulatory studies and new lot preparations. Generates and transmits monthly statistical reports and maintains organized documentation of calibration, linearity, validation, and cross-comparison between instruments (internally and with CBOC's) and control ranges. Monitors instrument maintenance and ensures performance either by assigning responsibility or performing necessary tasks. Delegates proficiency tests and QM monitor reports such as STAT turnaround times or specimen rejections studies and ensures submission before the deadline. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of assorted regulatory agencies such as CAP, The Joint Commission, and OSHA. Advises the Laboratory Manager regarding new or improved technology and instrumentation Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation. Researches updates and serves as a primary source of information for evolving developments in instrumentation, technology and automation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 0800-1630, may cover weekends and holidays as necessary for service coverage.
