Details Posted: March 27, 2021 Location: Madison, Wisconsin Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Allied Health The incumbent performs a full range of general radiologic and or specialized radiologic examinations along with computerized tomography of the head, neck, spine, chest, body and extremities independently. These exams are performed with and without the use of contrast materials and according to the radiologist's protocols. The purpose of these exams is to achieve diagnostic studies to bring about proper diagnosis and treatment. The incumbent performs a full range of general radiologic and or specialized radiologic examinations along with computerized tomography of the head, neck, spine, chest, body and extremities independently. These exams are performed with and without the use of contrast materials and according to the radiologist's protocols. The purpose of these exams is to achieve diagnostic studies to bring about proper diagnosis and treatment. Schedules exams in a manner so as to optimize scanner times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases. Maintains effective supervisory control of Radiology area by coordinating, planning, organizing and executing the work potential to expedite workflow patterns within the department. This requires the ability to prioritize scheduled patients as well as the ability to accommodate the emergency patient who may need immediate emergency surgery, etc. Confers with radiologists to determine requirement of non-standard exams. Determines technical factors, positioning, number and thickness of scans, etc., to produce and satisfy requirements of Diagnostic imaging and CT scanning. Schedules patients for examinations. Advises radiologists or referring physicians of examination results and notifies them of imaging/scans requiring their immediate attention. Performs routine and complex diagnostic exams for inpatients wards, ICU's, Emergency Department, and operating room procedures including; c-arm fluoroscopy for Orthopedics, Urology, Cardiology, Neurology (carotid stenting and spine), PV Angiography (AAA stenting, grafting and angioplasty) and general surgery. Performs routine and complex neuroangiography, including spine, head and neck studies utilizing highly sophisticated x-ray equipment such as computerized fluoroscopy, pressure injectors, parallelogram biplane imaging, post processing using 2 & 3-D workstation, patient monitors, etc. The purpose of these exams is to achieve diagnostic studies of the spinal canal. Performs routine and complex peripheral and visceral angiography of the abdominal systems and extremities. These angiographic studies include renal, hepatic, mesenteric, aortic, femoral, etc. The exams involve the use of highly sophisticated x-ray equipment such as computerized fluoroscopy, pressure injectors, biplane imaging, post processing using 2 & 3-D workstation, patient monitors, etc. The purpose of these exams is to achieve diagnostic or therapeutic studies or the vascular systems. Performs reconstructions of CT and angiographic studies when requested or when part of a standard procedure. Responsible for capturing digital and computerized images, processes images and verifies patient and exam information before transmitting them to the Picture Archive System (PACS) per department protocols. This procedure requires general knowledge of computer operations. Image manipulation and transmission is critical in digital and computerized radiography. Has knowledge of anatomy and physiology and cross-sectional anatomy to determine proper positioning to best demonstrate the areas of interest. Works with UW Lead Protocol Technologist and members of the protocol team to update and manage CT protocols to achieve/maintain standards of protocol optimization.
