Details Posted: March 27, 2021 Location: Spokane, Washington Show Map Salary: Open The Physician - Diagnostic Imaging Radiologist is assigned to the Diagnostic Imaging Service and reports to the Chief and Associate Chief of the Imaging Department; appointed to the Medical Staff of the Mann Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA. The diagnostic radiology physician provides direct patient care in a hospital setting to adults with acute and chronic medical conditions and serves as a consultant to other physicians. The Diagnostic Radiologist (Physician) will read studies using a PACS systems with a voice recognition dictation system and will have to interface the electronic medical record in the hospital and Radiology information system. The incumbent will function as an equal member within a larger team of staff radiologists. Individuals with specialized fellowship training in a particular subspecialty may be assigned supervisor responsibilities for that subspecialty and may function as the primary radiologist responsible for formulating policy, procedures, education and training impacting the daily clinical operations of the subspecialty. As a staff radiologist, the incumbent will be responsible for performing formal study interpretation, radiologic procedures, tumor board representation and consultation within the submodalities of computed tomography, general radiography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine and ultrasonography. The incumbent will assist, train, supervise and mentor radiology residents in the performance of radiographic procedures. The radiologist should be experienced in the production and interpretation of diagnostic radiologic studies generated in the submodalities of computed tomography, general radiography, fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, DEXA, and ultrasonography. A radiologist experienced in the performance of imaging-guided procedures to include, but not limited to, arthrography, epidural steroid injection, paracentesis, and thoracentesis is highly preferred since duties will include performance of these procedures. The radiologist will be expected to perform minor interventional procedures including, but not limited to, imaging-guided arthrograms, epidural steroid injections, paracentesis, and thoracentesis. As a staff radiologist, the incumbent will provide education and training to members of the medical staff through various conferences, committees and lecture series. The incumbent may be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational and administrative committees, task groups or special projects. Diagnostic radiologists appointed to the Imaging Service will be eligible for academic appointment with the affiliated Washington Health Sciences University (WSU) and the University of Washington (U of W) will provide education, training, mentoring and supervision to radiology residents as part of a shared residency program with both programs. Additionally, diagnostic radiologists will be encouraged to pursue research into academic interests related to the field of radiology or nuclear medicine and participate in educational lectures and conferences sponsored by the Spokane VA Medical Center and the associated Universities. The radiologist will be expected to seek academic appointment with our academic affiliates. Work Schedule: Variable compressed tour available, 4 - 10 hour shifts or split shifts may be available. Tour to be discussed during interview/selection. Occasional coverage of outpatient imaging clinics may be required. Rotating evening and weekend shift coverage required, rotating holiday shift coverage required and after hours on-call rotations as needed. Paid Time Off: (Full-time physicians) Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year stipend + possible 1 week paid authorized absence to attend. Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
