Details Posted: March 24, 2021 Location: Great Falls, Montana Show Map Salary: Open Type: Full Time Discipline: Allied Health The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for coordinating and performing an age-specific patient assessment prior to and during the Radiologic procedure, preparing the room and the patient for the procedure, and recording the images. The Radiologic Technologist utilizes radiology equipment accurately, evaluates the quality of the study, and performs procedure management. Communicates with the patient, family, and other healthcare workers and contributes to the efficient operation of the department. The office based Radiological Technologist also assists with other department needs such as rooming patients, vitals, registering patients, filing, stocking and other duties as assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. Responsible for safe handling of equipment and images. Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations. Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly. Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in supply management, labor costs and/or patient care. Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and makes radiographs for a variety of examinations. Contribute to the department's success through effective collaboration, active support of organizational initiatives and achievement of personal and organizational goals. Possesses and utilizes aseptic technique during invasive procedures. Assists in maintaining files, basic records, images and reports. Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel. Prepares room with anticipated equipment, supplies and instruments. Maintains knowledge about radiology imaging equipment including computed radiography, digital radiography and PACs(Picture Archiving and communications system) Helps with the transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department. Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Responsible for patient care activities including checking vital signs, assists physician/nurse practitioner with procedures Schedules appointments answers telephones, schedules labs, x-rays, scans and other outside procedures stocks exam rooms, maintains medical records as directed or needed Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. Interacts professionally with Physicians, co-workers, Patients and families. High School graduate; BS degree preferred.Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology, Current State of Montana License for Radiologic Technology required.Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.Current BCLS certification.
