Details Posted: March 24, 2021 Location: New York, New York Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants Advanced Practice Provider Neurology/Neurosurgery Fellowship Mission : The mission of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers Neurology/Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is to promote practice transition and professional development within an academic program that provides a combination of didactic and experiential learning. The goal of this comprehensive program is to prepare the APP to deliver efficient, patient-centered specialized care to the Neurology/Neurosurgical oncology patient population as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team. Vision : Our vision is to provide a comprehensive training program that combines academic learning with extensive clinical experience that will guide the APPs transition into practice. The aim of the program is to shape the Neurology/Neurosurgery APPs practice to deliver high quality, evidence-based, patient care, as well as support the ongoing pursuit of professional development and leadership through participation in research as well as organizational committees, programs, and quality and safety processes. Fellow Clinical responsibilities will include : Gathering a comprehensive patient history Comprehensive physical examination Comprehensive neurology examination Ordering and analyzing diagnostic studies Formulating and implementing treatment plans Evaluating response to treatment Coordination of patient care Active participation within the interdisciplinary healthcare team Participate in the implementation of patient education and clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the healthcare continuum Successful completion of the APP Neurology/Neurosurgery Fellowship Program will be established by successful completion of the designated fellowship competencies, including a comprehensive evaluation and demonstration of skills. Clinical Rotations The program will consist of rotations in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and the Neuro Acute Care Unit. The APP Fellow will also have extended rotations with Radiation Oncology, Radiology, and the outpatient clinics Neurology/Neurosurgery Inpatient: Memorial 4 The Fellow will provide direct patient care, as part of a collaborative team, to the neuro-oncology patient who is recovering from a neurosurgical procedure, receiving chemotherapy for CNS lymphoma, or requiring symptom management and treatment of an acute neurocritical illness. Neurology/Neurosurgery Outpatient In the outpatient setting, the Fellow will have the opportunity to rotate through the Urgent Care Center, Neurology clinic, the Neuro-Oncology clinic, and the Neurosurgery clinics. These comprehensive clinics provide outpatient care to the new patient seeking consultation, the post-operative Neurosurgery patient, established care visits for routine management, and urgent care visits including symptom management with appropriate escalation, as needed. Neuro Acute Care Unit While rotating within this closed Neuro unit, the Fellow will have the opportunity to evaluate, manage, and implement treatment for the critically ill neuro-oncology patient. The Fellow will collaborate closely with Intensivists from the ICU, the Neurology Attending, and the Neurosurgery Attending to provide comprehensive care to the neurocritical patient Length of Program 12 months Number of Positions 1 per year, starting June/July 2021 Eligibility Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioners Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioners Physician Assistants Current New York State RN and NP licenses, or PA license and appropriate NP/PA board certification.
