Ensure accuracy of data, protection of human subjects, and excellent customer service to the research community. Provide support to the Human Imaging Core by advanced knowledge of scanner operation, patches, advanced protocols and integration with PIs. Additional Key Elements/ Responsibilities: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all imaging procedures according to IRB approved protocols. Demonstrate advanced knowledge/understanding of the imaging instrumentation (scanner, coils, patches) as well as human anatomy/physiology. Ensure that IRB approval is in place for each study and that each study subject has been properly consented before conducting the imaging study. Evaluate study subject's history for compatibility with imaging system to be used. Provide the study subject with age-appropriate education about the procedure. Seek out resources to obtain necessary documentation about device safety if necessary. Perform routine clinical protocols in some research studies, including (but not limited to) administering IV contrast agents, pregnancy screening tests, etc. Maintain expert knowledge of running, setting up, and diagnosing problems for all 7T protocols. Assist researchers in developing protocols if needed. Performs visual maintenance checks on all equipment used and reports all malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Performs quality assurance procedures. Provides clear concise information regarding mechanical problems and service needs. Records all equipment downtime in department log and notifies appropriate personnel according to department procedures. Knowledge of MRI safety procedures and proper shutdown sequence of system. Provide leadership to other technologists about device safety and verification. Participate in academic, scholastic and professional development activities within and outside of VUIIS. Participate in training and teaching opportunities. Demonstrate professional attributes and effective technical skills to satisfy job expectations. Abide by professional code of ethics. Support the administrative and customer service functions within the Human Imaging Core. Ensure that studies needing scheduling support are scheduled efficiently. Use the CORES system as a tool for required reporting. Inspect area for appropriate stock (linens, medical supplies, etc.) and report inventory to appropriate personnel. Prepare reports for leadership group as needed. Maintain updated knowledge of imaging technology and procedures.
