Position Summary

The Mammography Technologist is a health professional with demonstrated skills and competency in all required mammography procedures provided in the Breast Center. Under general supervision, performs all routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures within the scope of the Breast Center, including breast ultrasound, ultrasound guided cyst aspirations and core biopsies, localizations, ductograms and the required MQSA quality control procedures where applicable.

The Breast Care Navigator works under the direction of the Director and supports associated medical, ancillary and community navigation of breast care services. The position encompasses responsibility for provision of the diagnostic standards needed to navigate patients through multidisciplinary medical referral process, and treatment planning and demonstrates skills as a patient advocate

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Mammography Technologist

• Produces quality mammographic and ultrasound images,
• Effectively communicates all pertinent patient information to the radiologist.
• Demonstrates the ability to evaluate demands of physicians, patients, staff and superiors.
• Effectively identifies and implements performance improvement techniques.
• Delivers high quality customer service.

Breast Care Navigator

• Navigates clinical recommendation and/or referrals based on the American College of Radiology (ACR) practice guidelines.
• Navigates the daily patient flow, ensures timely appointments, supports navigating patient care through treatment planning; demonstrates patient advocacy.
• Understands the principle of clinical, physical and psychosocial needs related to breast health and is capable of communicating this information to the patient and family as appropriate.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to achieve quality care goals and data outcomes for the breast care program; supports community health events and assists as needed in investigational data review of breast health care.
