Occ Summary This job classification is used for the Nursing C are Assistant FloatPool managed by ISRP.Perform a variety of nonprofessi onal nursing duties in the direct careof patients under the direct super vision of an RN/LPN. Work Performed Prepare patients, equipment andsupplies for specific procedures andprovide manual assist ance as required.Obtain and record patient data for medical records noti ng and informingRN/LPN of information collected.Administer treatment andpersonal care procedures to patients including,but not limited to, feed ing, bathing, shaving, changing clothing,cleaning and trimming fingernai ls, bed-making, assisting withambulation, enemas, skin care, and bowel a nd bladder elimination;provide such additional care as required to meet the personal needs andcomfort of assigned patients.Participate in teachi ng activities by reinforcing teaching instructed byRN and/or physician a s needed.Assist physician and nurses with physical examinations by helpi ngposition patients, changing non-sterile dressing and weighing patients .Take and record vital signs, record I&O, apply ice bags, administerdouc hes and enemas. Note and reportany changes in patient's condition.Turn and position patients, set up and feedpatients as necessary,provide pat ients with fresh drinking water.Perform fingersticks for blood glucose t esting, with appropriatetraining.Assist with admission, discharge, and t ransportation of patients.Follow standard precautions and use personal p rotective equipment asrequired.Collect, deliver and conduct routine test s on patient specimens.Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipment asrequired.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredskills validation and attending educational offerin gs. High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience Six months of experience strongly preferred. Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NAI) with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect ormisappropriation of property. BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
