Details Posted: January 14, 2021 Location: New York, New York Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Allied Health We are: The Cellular Immunology Laboratory performs a series of assays on various cellular components of the immune system. The assays consist of lymphocyte proliferation by mitogens and antigens, natural killer cell activity, immunophenotyping of lymphocytes, monocytes, granulocytes, bone marrow, peripheral blood progenitor/stem cells, cord blood and leukapheresis products. These studies are relevant in the diagnosis of immunodeficiency disorders and in supervising the effect of therapy on several groups of patients, including those receiving bone marrow transplants or biologic response modifiers. The Cellular Immunology Laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Technologist experienced in flow cytometry to perform and maintain proficiency in the technical and related work of the Cellular Immunology Laboratory. You will: Perform technical duties in all laboratory sections, with minimal direction, as assigned. Review test orders and verify accuracy of corresponding specimens. Maintain complete, accurate, legible, neat, organized, up-to-date records/logs/files. Prepare results for analysis and enter test results into the computer, with minimal direction. Build neat, accurate, well-formatted documents. Chip in to upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area. Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratorys Standard Operating Procedures. Perform routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, a Technologist II will: Handle the physical environment of the laboratory in accordance with New York State DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA and CLIA regulations Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned You have: A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (licenses restricted to flow cytometry are acceptable). A Bachelors degree Experience in flow cytometry highly preferred. Candidates with a keen interest in cellular immunology and an eagerness to learn will be considered for a Technologist I role, while those with at least 2 years of clinical laboratory experience will be considered for a Technologist II role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A strong aim to constantly learn and to develop your skills within a highly sophisticated setting.
