Documents results per procedure in medical record Assists department supervisor in process validation Performs calibration verification for supervisory review and approval Conducts maintenance, performance checks and calibrates instruments in one or more laboratory area Performs advance instrument troubleshooting Ensures all maintenance is done as scheduled and does timely preparation for supervisory review Reviews exception report in the absence of the supervisor Responsible for orienting new employees and supervising students Provides input to supervisor regarding staff performance Interprets policy and procedure for staff Gathers and prints monthly quality control data Responsible for setting up and doing parallel studies on new lot numbers of quality controls Assists in the yearly CAP survey and assigns survey to different technologist Inventories and make recommendations to Supervisor of the needed supplies and reagents for ordering Fulfills all medical technologist principal duties and functions as staff technologist when necessary Responsible for complying with HIPAA, CAP, JC, OSHA and all other local, State and Federal laws governing the hospital in general and the laboratory in particular. Must conform to all hospital and laboratory policies and procedures QualificationsWhat You Will Need: Bachelor's degree with 3 years experience in Medical Technology or a Bachelor's degree with 3 years experience in related science with approved clinical laboratory scientist training required or Associate's degree with at least 10 years experience Five years hospital experience in a clinical laboratory setting required. Active Florida License as a Generalist Medical Technologist or Specialist Medical Technolgoist in one or more areas of the laboratory required. Job Summary: The Lead Medical Technolgist assists the supervisor/director in advanced laboratory process validations including troubleshooting quality control and training. Also performs medical technologist duties of clinical testing in one or more of the following areas of the laboratory: Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis.
