Details Posted: January 7, 2021 Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Allied Health Position Summary:Under the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor, provide patient services in a Level I Trauma Center. Perform radiographic procedures for Diagnostic Radiology, apply principles of radiation protection. The delivery of quality service and positive interaction with customers is critical to the completion of all tasks. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.Accountability:PROCEDURES - Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures including portables and the OR; operate imaging equipment, computer and other assistive devicesX-RAY - Follow prescribed techniques to administer general and specific x-rays; adjust equipment; calculate exposure factors, position and immobilize patients as necessary, use appropriate lead shieldingQUALITY CONTROL- Evaluate filming for technical qualities and remedies; provide corrective action to improve qualityOBSERVATION - Observe patient and equipment during procedures; document patient reactions or problems on requisition and report immediately to supervisor PAPERWORK - Complete and verify all appropriate paperwork involved in but not limited to exams, patient education, lab results and patient check listsPATIENT CARE - Assume care for physical needs of the patient during examinations and proceduresIMAGING - Assist physician with imaging process; follow Radiology Department protocolsQUALITY CONTROL - Assume responsibility for portions of the quality control programs and provide instruction as requiredSAFETY - Provide protection to patients, family members, staff and self in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards and ALARASUPPLIES - Clean assigned area; maintain stock supply levels through inventory control and requisitioningPATIENT ASSISTANCE - Assist in reception area, scheduling office and/or film library; aid patients and transport them, as necessaryCLINICAL EDUCATION - Instruct specific units of didactic and/or clinical education as required to students, clinical staff and residentsFLOAT - May be required to float to another work assignment/areaDEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshopsPATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocolsPATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskPATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerPATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"Education Requirements:Comm on Allied Health and Accred (AMA), or accred ED pgm Licensure/Certification Requirements:American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Radiography)NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program Licensure(formerly RTC)CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of positionExperience Requirements - Preferred:Trauma centerBilingual English/SpanishPhysical Demands Requirements:Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
