Clinical Nurse II- Duke University Hospital- Day Shift Duke University Health System- Duke University Hospital seeks to hire an experienced Registered Nurse who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. Department Profile: The Cardiac Diagnostic Unit (CDU) is part of Duke University Hospital, and encompasses three different sites. These sites include areas in Duke Hospital (7200), Clinic 2K in Duke South, and Southpoint Clinic. The Cardiac Diagnostic Unit (CDU) is a cardiac procedural area providing comprehensive state of the art diagnostic service inclusive of echocardiography (transthoracic and transesophageal), cardioversions, and stress testing. Registered nurses in the CDU will have the opportunity to assess, prepare, and monitor the cardiac patient population prior to, during, and after stress testing, cardioversions, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE). The nurse would be responsible for ensuring appropriateness of procedures ordered for our adult patient population. This job function requires the nurse be able to recognize and act on potential life threatening changes of patient condition as well as multitasking, critical thinking, and working with a diverse group of other medical professionals. The nurse will be an integral part in interpretation of EKG's, including rhythm and ST changes, as well as be responsible for the delivery of moderate sedation and continuous monitoring of vitals during the procedures. Work Hours & Shifts: Full Time: Monday thru Friday, 8-hour or 10-hour day shifts, or a combination of 10 and 8-hour shifts available with rotation throughout the different locations of the Cardiac Diagnostic Unit (Hospital, 2K, and Southpoint). All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date. Experience Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
