Trauma Nurse Coordinator - Performance Improvement (Nursing Manager) - Duke University Health System - Duke University Hospital Duke University Health System seeks to hire a Trauma Nurse Coordinator - Performance Improvement (Nurse Manager) who will embrace our mission of Transforming Lives Transforming Care. Schedule/Shift: 40 hours per week Generally Monday - Friday, occasional evenings/weekends. Responsibilities: Supports and adheres to Duke Hospital's policies, procedures, philosophy and mission, applying customer service standards and excellence in attitude and behaviors in performing all job responsibilities. Monitor state and regulatory requirements as related to trauma care. Develop, implement, and coordinate PI initiatives for the Trauma Center. Develop 3-5 year plan for trauma PI based on Duke Hospital, NC State, and ACS guidelines Monitor all PI standards, i.e. sentinel events, deaths, adherence to protocols, LOS, variances, etc. Function as a trauma clinical resource regarding standards of care and trauma protocols. Assist in the development of trauma protocols. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, adult and pediatric trauma management review conferences. Assess trauma educational needs and participate in provision of education for staff and patients. Identify areas of trauma research and participate in clinical research. Act as a liaison between the trauma center and the specialty services caring for trauma patients. Serve on hospital based committees that relate to trauma, i.e. Donor Services, PI, unit based Trauma Committees, etc. Collaborate with the Duke RAC Coordinator to address performance improvement issues of the referring agencies. Assist in preparation for OEMS/ACS site designation visit. Maintain a professional image by participating in assigned management activities, volunteer organizations, and remaining current in trends and changes in the trauma venue. Represent the Duke Trauma Center and Emergency Service CSU in a variety of local and regional public forums, to include professional meetings and educational forums. Reports to Administrative Manager of Trauma Services (TPM) Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required: * A Registered Nurse in North Carolina or equivalent. * BSN Required, Masters preferred. * National Certification such as CEN, CCRN, CFRN, etc. * TNCC required upon hire, ENPC required within 12 months. * Three years' experience in trauma/emergency/prehospital care * Demonstrated ability in successful interpersonal communications and customer service skills * Experience with performance improvement initiatives is required * Experience in educational programming and systems development is required * Computer and database management skills required * Physical abilities to complete job duties and responsibilities under prescribed environmental and working conditions.
