Details Posted: December 20, 2020 Location: Lakeway, Texas Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Operations The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO will be the designated leader in one or more Baylor hospitals for providing leadership and expertise in the delivery of safe patient care. In doing so, the PSO/CRM will integrate information obtained from the reporting of adverse events, near misses and concerns related to clinical risk. With this information the Clinical Risk Manager and PSO/CRM will analyze findings and will work collaboratively to develop responsive programs that enhance an organizational culture that supports patient safety. When adverse events result in suboptimal patient outcomes, the Clinical Risk Manager and PSO/CRM critically depends upon the engagement and support provided by the hospital President, physician and nursing leaders and the Director of Health Care Improvement, specific expectations are described for their support. The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO is a trusted agent for clinical staff to report concerns about aspects of care that may generate risk to patients. Serves as chairperson 2 to the Hospital's PS committee. Reviews SSOS reports and obtains more detailed information by chart review and interviews as indicated. Works collaboratively with HCI and Care Coordination and hospital leaders to assure compliance with various codes, laws, standards and regulations concerning patient care. Receives information from other individuals who are accountable for complaint and Ethics hotline management about specific patient care processes that may create risk of patient harm. The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO/CRM will assist designated individuals to address or resolve complaints and Ethics Hotline reports. Provides leadership in selecting events or situations that require Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO reports to Hospital President, BHCS Director of Risk Management and BHCS Director of Patient Safety. Regularly reports to executive and medical staff leaders related to PS/CRM data, risk assessments and PS/CRM programs. The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO assumes the leadership role for a safe culture by sharing accountability for PS throughout the organization. The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO/CRM acts as an internal consultant and advocates for the implementation of the Guiding Principles of Safe Design and Operations. Serves on the following committees: Patient Safety, Partnership Council, Environment of Care Safety, Health Care Improvement, Infection Control committees and JCAHOThe ideal Candidate for The Clinical Risk Manager and PSO must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective collaborative relationships. Must be able to seek creative solutions and work with others to collaboratively set goals and priorities. Must have strong oral and written presentation skills.
