This critical role is responsible for the cleaning, housekeeping and janitorial duties throughout the healthcare system. On the job training is provided! Eligible for $1,000 Sign-on Bonus JOB SUMMARY:Performs a variety of healthcare environmental services (EVS) duties to enhance the healthcare environment by maintaining the location assigned. Follows special healthcare cleaning and trash handling techniques as required ensuring a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows system wide standards as well as department specific service standards.Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family/ customer experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to unit specific service standards. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:TEAM PLAYER - Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.COMUNICATION SKILLS - Demonstrates oral, written, and electronic communication skills.INFECTION CONTROL - Utilizes knowledge of patient safety and error prevention to impede the spread of infection and disease.HEALTHCARE REGULATORY ENVIRONMENT - Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulatory bodies affecting healthcare practices.HOUSEKEEPING - Knowledge of processes for providing a clean and bacterially safe environment for patients and facility staff.HOUSEKEEPING - Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation methods for maintaining linens for hospital facility. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GED preferred.Previous experience in environmental services in a health care setting preferred WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., carry and push carts from 100 lbs. to 500 lbs. when performing duties. Works under a variety of temperature conditions. May involve transporting items outside of buildings in all weather conditions.Possesses the ability to stand for long periods as well as to walk long distances to perform cleaning and disinfecting tasks of both high and low items/areas.Requires ability to perform job duties correctly with in established System EVS standards to facilitate patient throughput.
